From STAMSUND to SVOLVÆR is a relatively short leg and just before reaching Svolvær NORTH bound and SOUTH bound Coastal Expresses passes each other. It’s a tradition that when the ships meets there is a greeting competition (who are the most innovative and loudest). At the entry to the Svolvær harbour we are greeted by the “Fisherman’s wife” looking for her husband to come home from the fishing grounds. Not all did! In a furious storm 500 fishermen were lost to the sea.
